Jogador é banido do futebol por envolvimento em esquema de manipulação
Romário, ex-Vila Nova, também recebeu do STJD uma multa de R$ 25 mil
O meia Marcos Vinicius Alves Barreira, conhecido como Romário, foi banido do futebol pelo Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD), nesta segunda-feira (29), além de receber uma multa de R$ 25 mil. O ex-jogador do Vila Nova foi punido por participar de um esquema de manipulação de resultados de partidas de futebol.
Na mesma oportunidade o STJD puniu o volante Gabriel Domingos com uma suspensão de 720 dias e uma multa de R$ 15 mil. Segundo nota do tribunal, as decisões foram tomadas de forma unânime. Mas, como o julgamento foi em primeira instância, ainda há a possibilidade de recurso.
As punições foram motivadas pela participação dos dois em um esquema de manipulação de resultados no jogo entre Vila Nova e Sport pela edição 2022 da Série B do Campeonato Brasileiro, que foi disputado no dia 6 de novembro.
Segundo as denúncias, que são resultado de uma operação do Ministério Público de Goiás (MP-GO) chamada de Penalidade Máxima, Romário, que à época atuava no Vila Nova, atuou para tentar cooptar atletas para cometer pênaltis na partida em questão. Já Gabriel, que também defendia a equipe goiana na oportunidade, acabou envolvido no caso por afirmar, em troca de mensagens com apostadores, que toparia a proposta, o que não se concretizou no final.
A investigação do MP-GO surgiu em fevereiro, a partir de uma denúncia feita pelo presidente do Vila Nova, Hugo Jorge Bravo. Naquela oportunidade, o dirigente revelou que Romário aceitou R$ 150 mil para cometer um pênalti na primeira etapa do jogo contra o Sport. Posteriormente, em abril, o MP-GO ampliou o escopo das investigações, passando a apurar possíveis eventos irregulares em partidas da Série A e de campeonatos estaduais.
